Old Warwickians

John Blakstad (WS 1940-51)

John's son David writes:
My father was one of three sons who all attended Warwick School in the 1930s and 40s. It started him on the road to life, from becoming head boy, joining the CCF and playing rugby (which, other than his family, was his main passion).

Father left the school to do his National Service, first with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and then the Paratroop Regiment, where he served in Korea.

Father also played rugby for Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Moseley RFC. He then settled down to business and family life. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 54 years, and three children: Diana, Jenny and David. My father loved his time at Warwick school: indeed it turned him into the man he was to become throughout his life. I know he would wish to be remembered to the school and any old boys of his year.
