G I Peter Clark (WS 1940-46)

George Ivan Peter Clark was born on 31 December 1930 and died on 9 March 2010. He was apprenticed at the Standard Motor Company in Coventry where he gained a scholarship to read engineering at Birmingham University, and won a first class degree. He also gained his pilot’s licence with the university air squadron. Most of his career was with P.A. Management Consultants, working in Italy, Australia , South Africa and Scotland, mainly in the oil and gas industry. Flying light aircraft was his life-long hobby, and after retirement he played a full part in the Sherwood Flying Club, Nottingham as their chief flying instructor and chairman. He leaves a wife Pamela, a daughter Rosemary, a son Jeremy and four grandchildren.

Peter was part of a wider family tradition at Warwick – marrying Pam (KHS), the sister of Gerald Binks (WS 1940-45) who married Jean Fryer (KHS), and Geoff Binks (WS 1942-48). Geoff’s son Nigel followed (WS 1969-77); his son-in-law, Mark Hughes (WS 1966-73) and grandson Leo (WS 1999-2006).
