Old Warwickians

F Antony Randle (WS 1939-46)

Frank Antony Ernest Randle died in 2011.

Upon leaving Warwick School Frank went to Leeds University and to the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield, but he subsequently decided not to take Holy Orders. At Leeds he called himself Antony because there was a comedian of the day also called Frank Randle – and so Antony he remained for the rest of his life. That life was largely devoted to music as organist and choirmaster in several churches, including All Saints, Warwick, where he married the vicar’s widow, Virginia; St Nicholas, Warwick where fellow OW John Randall was his assistant organist, and finally Holy Trinity, Leamington Spa.

Antony taught at Emscote Lawn and Arnold Lodge, both local preparatory schools, but after retirement, and his wife’s death, his health declined and he spent several years confined to a wheelchair. With incredible determination he continued to look after himself until the end.
