OW and Friends Real Tennis

We’re delighted to announce the launch of the “OW and Friends Real Tennis Club”. The formation of this Club mirrors the successful launch of the Schools’ Real Tennis Club two years ago, which has resulted in a groundswell of popularity for the game amongst current pupils. Indeed Real Tennis is due to become a mainstream Wednesday afternoon sports activity! Currently, the Schools Real Tennis Club trains four evenings a week at both Leamington and Moreton Morrell Tennis Clubs with for some thirty or so die hard enthusiasts, supplemented by many more who participate despite clashes of scheduling whenever possible.

It is anticipated that the networking effect of the OW and Friends Club will encourage OW players to continue playing after their School career, either amongst its members or in putting OW players in touch with other Clubs across the UK and abroad. The new Club will also put out a team to take on the School as well as possibly compete against other alumni based teams. In addition, the formation of the new Club is intended to support the Schools existing players and Club whilst promoting the game and its delights to as wide an audience as possible, hosting social and networking events in support of the Club, its members and aims.

It is anticipated that the inaugural social and sporting event will take place on the first weekend of September 2011 at Leamington Tennis club. We will be hosting a handicap tournament, accompanied by a two course lunch.

For all those wishing to join and for any further information please contact Dr Beverleigh Twohig-Howell (Chemistry and Biology) at bth@warwickschool.org.
