Thank you to Tom Coyte, WS 1999-2006, for sharing these reflections... Twenty Years On
"On Saturday 6 June 2026, I attended my 20-year school reunion at Warwick. Pulling into the school car park for the first time in two decades, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Like many, I wondered how it would feel to revisit the people and places from so many years ago. As it turned out, I needn’t have worried.
The reunion was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and catch up on the different paths our lives have taken since leaving school. What struck me most was how instantly recognisable and familiar the people and place still seemed. Twenty years may have passed, but the personalities and characteristics I remembered were still very much intact!
It was fascinating to see how the school has developed. The investment in the site is impressive, and there have clearly been significant changes to meet the needs of today’s staff and boys. I was interested to discover that the old Sixth Form Centre had been transformed into a Wellbeing Hub, with work/meeting areas, therapy rooms, a sensory room, and a multi-faith prayer room. All positive improvements.
Yet, amidst the modernisation, some things felt wonderfully unchanged. Walking into the Design & Technology block, I was instantly hit by that familiar, nostalgic smell of sawdust and machine coolants & oils, which brought back happy memories of woodwork and metalwork lessons (one of my favourite subjects). Meanwhile, stepping into my Lower Fourth Latin classroom transported me right back to the less enjoyable feelings I had when I first joined Warwick and was tackling Latin for the very first time!
After the reunion event drew to a close, the conversations naturally spilled over into a local pub, sharing memories and reflecting on the years since leaving Warwick.
I left feeling grateful that I had made the effort to attend. For anyone considering a future reunion but feeling hesitant, my advice would be simple: go. You may be surprised by how much you enjoy it".
