2025 OWA President's Dinner

The Cavalry and Guards Club, Piccadilly, London
Saturday 17 May 2025

OWA President Jamie Barr TD (WS 1971-78) hosted a splendid President's Dinner at The Cavalry and Guards Club on 17 May for almost 100 OWs and guests. This was our first London OWA President’s Dinner for nine years.

With the emphasis on encouraging engagement and strengthening our OW community, and with an organised shuffle of the seating plan before cheese, everyone enjoyed meeting old friends and new. We hope many of those attending for the first time will be inspired to attend the dinner and encourage friends to come along in future years.

Head Master James Barker (WS 1991-97) spoke passionately about how Warwick School is transforming the lives of hundreds of young individuals. He gave a glimpse into the huge range of opportunities enjoyed by our students today and highlighted some of many recent success stories. He reflected on today's challenges and rewards and, toasting the Old Warwickian Association, thanked OWs for their tremendous and enduring support of the school.

The President noted that every decade since 1950 was represented and welcomed many OWs who had been to dinners before, including ten Past Presidents of the OWA. He was particularly delighted to welcome many OWs who were attending a President's Dinner for the first time, including a dozen recent leavers from 2019 and 2020.  He thanked everyone for their ongoing commitment to the OWA and support of Warwick School and encouraged OWs to get involved in the new professional and regional networks and actively engage and reach out to one another.

The President was also delighted to share news of The 914 Society, created to provide bursaries thereby widening access to a Warwick School (and Warwick Schools Foundation) education which transforms lives. He shared that he had himself been a recipient of a bursary and he encouraged OWs to consider making a contribution to the fund.
