OW Lunch, Corps of Drums and Creative Festival

Saturday 6 July 2024

On the last day of our month-long Warwick Schools Creative Festival ‘Home’, OWs and their spouses, partners, friends and families are warmly invited back to Warwick School for all or part of an amazing day.
Some of many things to enjoy on 6 July:

OW Lunch in the Pyne Room
Gather with fellow OWs for drinks (at 12 noon) and lunch (12:30-13:45). Tickets, £25, include a two-course buffet lunch with a glass of wine, beer or non-alcoholic alternative.
Tickets must be booked in advance on www.oldwarwickians.org/2024drums

The re-established CCF Corps of Drums
See (and hear!) the launch of our new Corps of Drums at 14:00 in the Stevens Quad. The Corps of Drums has been generously funded by a number of OWs.

Warwick School Museum, Warwick School Archives and historic Warwickshire Maps
Between 14:30 and 16:30 in the Portcullis Room next to Chapel, view some of our precious WS archives not normally on display, including the Master’s Books from 1881-1906, Warwickshire maps bequeathed to the school by OW Roger Farrand and a collection of photographs discovered in recent years.

Music for a Summer’s Day
Pop in and listen to a variety of pupil ensembles around the campus at various times throughout the day.

Speech and Drama Festival
From 10:00 in Warwick School Drama Studio, pupils will be presenting a wide variety of pieces spanning poetry, acting and Shakespeare.

5 structures, 1 ‘Home’
Visit, around the campus, wooden structures created by students and our Art Departments. Each structure will contain objects which symbolise ‘Home’.

The Boat
From 12 noon OW and international selling abstract artist Tom Payne (WS 1996-2006), in collaboration with a number of our art students, will be working on ‘The Boat’ outside Warwick School Art Department.

Art Exhibitions
GCSE and A level art students will exhibit their inspiring work at various locations throughout the schools during the day.

The Homecoming Test
Enjoy watching OWs play in a Head Master’s XI vs school cricket match. 14:00 start.

AAJAO (Welcome)
As part of our Creative Festival, OWs may also enjoy, in the Bridge House Theatre on 1 July at 19:00, a short film by OW Maanuv Thiara (WS 2001-12). AAJAO (Welcome) explores grief, guilt and the meaning of home.
